Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa (190 g), uncooked
  • 1 ½ cups water or vegetable stock (360 ml)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • pepper
  • salt

Instructions

  1. 1) Pour the quinoa grains in a sieve and rinse them under cold running tap water.

  2. 2) Add the rinsed quinoa grains to a large saucepan together with the olive oil, the bay leaf and the (vegetable) stock or water. Season with a pinch of pepper and salt.

  3. 3) Bring all the ingredients to a good boil over medium heat. Let the quinoa cook for 10 to 12 minutes. All of the liquid should be absorbed in the end. Try the quinoa to see if it is tender.

  4. 4) Take the quinoa off the heat. Serve it warm or add other ingredients. Or put it in the fridge to cool if you want to use it in a cold salad.
