This easy cabbage rolls recipe delivers tender leaves, a rich tomato sauce, and simple steps for a comforting, classic dish.
1) Preheat your oven to 180°C.
2) Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves and blanch them for 2–3 minutes until soft and pliable. Drain and set aside.
3) In a bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, cooked rice, egg, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is evenly combined.
4) Lay a cabbage leaf flat, add a spoonful of filling to the center, fold the sides inward, and roll tightly. Repeat with the remaining leaves.
5) Heat olive oil in a pan and lightly sear the rolls for extra flavor (optional but recommended).
6) Place the cabbage rolls in a baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce and broth over the top.
7) Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
8) Let them rest for a few minutes before serving so the flavors settle.
